Content creation has gotten paradoxical. It’s easier than ever to go viral, but it seems harder than ever to make a living. I personally think this is for 3 reasons: AI, globalization, and reshared content. This article discusses the 3rd concept. Reshared content might seem insignificant at first, but they actually illustrate a key law about the internet: anyone can copy you. This means that right now, anyone can profit off of you simply by stealing your content. Social media has gotten flooded in recent years with AI generated copies of people’s work. This not only hurts creator’s ad revenues, but it also makes it harder to succeed on the ecommerce front. Here’s how you can make money, in spite of content theft.
Realize that if you go viral, you might not get paid
If you go viral, getting paid is going to be an issue. This is due to reaction content, and reposted content. A lot of people simply won’t be seeing the original version of your content. This means that even if you go viral, you won’t get paid. If you stop focusing on going viral, your material is less likely to be copied, and you’ll learn to be consistent. You’ll make way more money in the long term than if you were just some sensation to react to.
All that matters is your traffic
I mean the traffic that goes directly to your page. The good news in today’s era is that it’s easier than ever to get traffic. Just join social media. The trickier part is creating good content. Ignore people resharing your content, they simply don’t matter. What matters is: what posting and ads strategy can you employ to drive the most possible traffic to your site?
Focus on long form content
Getting good at long form content is how you fight deflation. Most people don’t have the understanding to create good long form content. This is why I write. The more and better long-form content you make, the better off you’ll be with regards to fighting against the increasing competitiveness of the online money-making sphere.
Have a personal brand
This is why I still think it’s best to start a long-form blog or a YouTube channel. These content creation platforms allow you to develop your own personal brand, and flesh out a lot of concepts in your work. Having a personal brand is how you get people back to your content even if it’s reshared by others. Have a name and be consistent.
Sell your own product
If you have your own product, you have an opportunity to have people buy from you and reshare you. If they reshare your content, they also reshare your store. This is the key to having a personal brand. It’s a massive opportunity online.
Move to an up-and-coming country that is poorer than average
You don’t want to go too poor and ruin your life. But generally speaking, the future is going to be in an up-and-coming country. Check the debt to GDP ratios of your country of choice. If they’re lower than the global average and the country is stagnating, that might be why. Do a lot of research. Make sure it’s easy to immigrate. Make sure you can become a citizen. Make sure you have a backup plan. The reason why you want to move to a poorer country is due to the fact that world is flattening, and content creation should standardize to global wages. If you live in a poor country, you should see your life getting easier over the next 30 to 40 years.
Be consistent
The more content you can create, the more you solidify yourself as a mainstay of the internet. This should mean consistent money forever if you’re smart. Once you’re getting traffic, conversions, and living overseas, nothing can stop you.
Making money in this new digital age keeps getting easier and easier. If you’re not noticing it, it’s probably becaause you’re in a first world country, and aren’t used to competing on a global marketplace. But there are still some problems that can be encountered. Reshared content isn’t going away.
Thanks for paying attention.
