“The More Uncertainty You Can Tolerate the More Success You Will Have”

Leila Hormozi is a great entrepreneur. I know nothing about the businesses that she started, and that’s not the point of this article. I know Leila Hormozi from YouTube. The content she makes is great, and resonates immensely with me, being someone who’s always locked in. I love how she is always working on her laptop while recording videos, and her advice is always great. As you can guess, Leila Hormozi is the originator of the quote in the title. I saw it on her Twitter. Leila is 100% correct in making this statement. Being an entrepreneur is lucrative precisely because it involves accepting a ton of uncertainty. Let me explain why uncertainty is so lucrative.

Most People Don’t Like Uncertainty

This is the truth of the matter. A lot of people simply can’t handle the pain and emotional turmoil that comes with uncertainty. This is why most people have jobs and invest their money. Building a business is really hard, and most people don’t want to do it, at all. That’s because when you build a business, you deal with the uncertainty of not knowing whether or not your efforts were in vain. This is really painful for people who have been taught that they deserve the world for their efforts. If you can tolerate uncertainty, you put yourself in a rare group.

Dealing With Uncertainty Teaches Frugality

Unless you’re born with a silver spoon in your mouth, your younger years are likely to be quite financially tumultuous. You’re not going to be able to necessarily do all the things that you want to do, and if you’re trying to get ahead, you’re going to have to sacrifice a lot. But if you can deal with all the uncertainty, you will learn to live within your means. You will learn that nothing is deserved. All that matters is what you can take and what you can create. This will make you extremely frugal and cautious with your money, if you’re smart. Learn how to deal with uncertainty and you will almost certainly always find yourself living well within your means. This is because you’re going to want to mitigate risk.

Dealing With Uncertainty Teaches Mental Strength

If you’re dealing with uncertainty, you’re going to deal with punches to the gut and to the face. You’re going to deal with moments where things are not looking up, and not looking in your favor. You’re going to deal with moments where you have to take a risk or put up collateral without knowing what the response will be. You will fail many times. You will also need to work hard without the certainty of knowing what’s next. This will teach you immense amount of mental strength and will allow you to go far.

Dealing With Uncertainty Is the Essence of Being a Manager

If you are a manager, being uncertain about the state of your team is the norm. Sure, you can have lots of trust in the people working for and with you, but the truth is that things happen. You never, ever know when something outside of everyone’s control will throw a wrench in everyone’s plans. You never know when an outside force will intervene. Being a manager means everyone looks to you for help. Whether you’re managing your own team or someone else’s, dealing with uncertainty is a major part of your job. If you want to be in charge, learn to deal with uncertainty.

Dealing With Uncertainty Is the Essence of Being a Producer

And this is how you actually get your hands on some real money. If you’re in charge of producing with something that the public needs, you’re dealing with uncertainty on two fronts. The first is when you deal with all the moving parts required to satisfy demand, you’re going to need to make sure that everything goes smoothly. Bad employees, disorganized supplies. It all falls on you. On the other hand, you also need to deal with the fact that demand is constantly shifting. Consumers are incredibly unpredictable, and you never know what’s going to happen to them.

To accept uncertainty is to take responsibility

And this is the best way to get the most out of life. When you take responsibility for everything that you do and have, you put yourself in control of your life. When you put yourself in control of your life, you’re able to get a massive amount of stuff done. Take responsibility by accepting that certain things are uncertain. When you take responsibility, you put yourself in a completely different frame of mind from the average man (a bum).

Consistency + uncertainty = unbeatable

As I discussed earlier, most people don’t like uncertainty. They can’t handle it at all. If you’re not consistent, you can’t win at anything. Most people force themselves to show up to work consistently, but can’t bring themselves to do much else. If it’s a self-directed mission, they won’t be able to do it. If you’re consistent in accepting uncertainty, you will become an expert in combating it. This means you will become an expert in creation. Creators win in today’s economy.

Mitigation is essential

I talk about accepting uncertainty through this article, but mitigating risk and uncertainty is also key. You don’t want to be dealing with pointless uncertainty. If you learn to deal with uncertainty long enough, you will learn how to stop it from bothering you. But you will also learn to minimize it on the front end. Being able to deal with pain doesn’t mean you invite more of it, does it? You’ll eventually learn how to stop problems before they’re even created.

Certain types of uncertainty are better than others

You want to figure out which risks are worth taking, and at a young age. I’ll give you a hint. It makes no sense to be taking on a high level of physical risk. Don’t do any job that puts you at risk of being harmed by others, or that puts you at risk of being harmed. Another type of risk that you are going to want to avoid taking is, is any risk involving your freedom. If you end up in a situation where your freedom is at stake, avoid it. There are far too many consequences associated with criminal activity unless it’s existential. Avoid it unless you’re facing a fine/civil penalties.

If you learn how to accept uncertainty, you will have a great life, at least when it comes to your finances. But even when it comes to how you live life. A lot of the best of what the world has to offer lies on the other side of massive risk. When I moved overseas, the minimum wage in my country was about $40 per week. Now it’s gone up to $100. Soon, it might be possible to have a middle-class life here with just a bachelor’s degree and a job. Life in my old country has gotten harder, and I’m working my way into the “upper group” when it comes to asset holders in my country. If I hadn’t taken the risk of moving overseas when things looked desperate, I would never have been able to do anything with my life. Now, I’m on track to get wealthy in a new country. I’m incredibly lucky, but it’s also because I made all the right choices. I’m not only grateful. I’m also proud of myself. If I hadn’t accepted the uncertainty of living overseas on the front end, I would never be able to live the life I do now. I’m going to keep accepting uncertainty, and make my life even better. I hope you do too.

Thanks for paying attention.
