Whatever you do, don’t get into the habit of getting used to the nicer things in life when you’re young. You’ll be setting yourself up for a lifetime of pain, misery, and work. You see, expensive things and beautiful dates are a blast, and their really addictive. When you have an experience that makes you feel like you’re in a movie, it’s hard to go back to a regular Tuesday. This is the true downside to being rich: it’s addictive.

Money is one of those things that you need to know how to spend. Where you rent is the first and most important thing. Living in a good area willing dramatically improve your mood. If you live around crime or poverty, you’re going to be anxious and unhappy. If you live somewhere you love, your soul will also be fulfilled. Renting a good apartment in a great city will make for a lifestyle that’s easy to fall in love with. But it will cost you, and you will have to work much harder than otherwise.

Food is an underrated aspected of having money. Eating good fresh food all the time is addictive. It’ll make you feel more alive. Food can get really expensive. Think hundreds and thousands of dollars. Unless you’re shopping for yourself, the lifestyle creep is insane.

Fine women are often who will get you started chasing riches as a young man. As you get older you realize that getting rich for women’s sake makes no sense. But when you’re young and meet beautiful women who are unusually friendly, you think money buys everything. It doesn’t. Getting rich to attract attention from the opposite sex is a life trap, but it’s an easy one to fall into. Paradoxically, it’s a good way for you to jumpstart your success if you have no motivation. Be careful.

Status goods are addictive if you are lacking in self confidence. Unfortunately, most people who didn’t grow up super rich are traumatized and lacking in confidence in some way, shape, or form. So you’ll probably breifly have a period where you buy expensive stuff if you have any kind of success. Just to show off. It is what it is.

If you have any kind of addiction that exists independently, you will like do what it takes to feed it. This is the real danger of having money. If you have an insatiable addiciton, you can literally kill yourself. Choose wisely.

Making money is addictive. Doing projects that can make you money is addictive. It’s also incredibly easy to get greedy. Getting greedy can mess up your situation. It can cause you to fall into delusion, build a house of cards, or even just get scammed. Get addicted to making money during the grind phase, but don’t get addicted to the high life for its own sake. Watch how you eat, watch how you spend, and watch who you surround yourself with. It’s imperative if you want to keep your wealth sanity, and time freedom.
