Can Working Hard Be Therapeutic? – Workaholism When You’re Feeling Down

I find working hard at my craft to be quite rewarding and therapeutic. It feels great knowing that I’m getting ahead in life. Every day that I write, I feel like I’m getting a deeper knowledge of my own skills, along with a better understanding of the online income sphere. Making money online used to be a deep mystery to me. Now I’m well on my way to having two income sources ready to have me earning money. It shouldn’t be long before I’m fairly well-off by the standards of my home country. I’ve been “grinding” very hard, and pretty much everyone who’s worked as hard as me has seen results. Being where I am in business journey has made me think a lot about the way I work, and why I work the way I do. Why did I bother chasing the money? Will all of this have been worth it in the end? The questions gnaw at me sometimes. I’ve decided not to worry, and to just keep working. I think when you’re a young man, being a “workaholic” can have significant value. You just need to know why you’re working, and what the general benefits of working hard are.

Working hard takes away from your anxiety

This is especially true if you live in a poor country or a country that doesn’t have a highly developed welfare system. Working hard is better than sitting around. When you sit around, you have no hope of creating future worth having. This is a terrible feeling, and it’s easily taken away by hard work.

When you get into the swing of working hard, you start to feel better about your situation

This is because you can envision the sheer beauty of the results that your hard work and effort will bring. I can already see it with my blog. The places I will be able to afford overseas soon are pretty unreal. I think I was smart to work hard in the way that I did.

Working hard makes you more useful to society

The more you can offer the world, the better. People will like you more, want to help you more, and need you more. You want to make yourself useful as an adult in this world. It often pays massive dividends to have been a useful young person as you age. I’ve seen that movie play out many times with many happy endings.

Find a job that suits your lifestyle best

People say do what you love. I wouldn’t exactly say that that makes a ton of sense. Young people are quite poor right now, and it’s legitimately quite difficult to make real money in today’s age. Not preparing oneself for this reality can be disastrous. I think the three questions you need to ask yourself are the following:

What will I be doing all day?

Where will I live?

Can I support a comfortable lifestyle?

I think that once you figure out the answers to these questions, you’re well ahead of the game. If just

Set some goals

If you know where you’re going, life gets a lot easier. Things just make a ton of sense. Make sure you have a lifestyle planned, and that you’re taking steps towards living it every single day. You want to make sure this plan is realistic. There is no hope of you earning $100,000 a year after taxes while running a small YouTube channel in Cambodia. You need to make all the pieces of the puzzle fit together. Where you live, your spending, your hobbies. It takes a bit of thought, but you should be able to think your way to a pretty decent setup if you’re smart.

Realize that money won’t make you feel secure

Having money won’t make you feel better about yourself. If anything it’ll make you insecure. You’ll be paranoid that you’re gonna lose it all if you get too rich without working on yourself. This is a very bad feeling.

Realize that money doesn’t buy happiness

This is a little more complicated. Being wealthier than most is great. But just having a bunch of money doesn’t guarantee happiness. Happiness occurs when you have freedom. To create freedom for yourself, you need to earn a good income, but some high-income setups will take away your freedoms. You don’t want to be a celebrity, for example. Your audience expects you to keep popping up. Not to mention the expensive and dangerous lifestyle you may be forced to partake in.

Realize that sometimes we use work to run away from important feelings

Don’t use work as an excuse to avoid what’s important. You still need to make friends, date, and live the life you were otherwise meant to live. It’s just difficult to do in today’s age. It takes a lot of hard work and patience. Don’t let this difficulty be an excuse for you to live a bad life in other ways.

Working hard is one of the most therapeutic things you can, but it can definitely be a double-edged sword. Be careful, and don’t sacrifice what’s most important just for a shot at getting rich. Work hard because you want to create a great life, not because you want to have more than or feel like you’re better than people.

Thanks for paying attention.
