Generative AI Is Causing Us To Spin Our Wheels

The point of technology is that is used for good. At least, that’s what I was told when I was young by the Science Channel. Generative AI has done some good in my life. It has saved me a lot of time. In the past, it would take years to generate 1,400 articles. Now I can get it done in a few months. Adding to the global store of knowledge is hard work, and I fear my addition won’t be so great. But still I persist, and continue to spin my wheels until I make a breakthrough, like many a young zoomer in the modern era.

The problem with generative AI is that it’s pretty new. This means not only are you anxious about your ability to use the technology, you’re also worried about which industries it will wipe out. So far, Gen AI has cause blogs to become consolidated. A lot of small bloggers have quit, and it seems like it’s practically open season for those who are dedicated and making money online

But in the meantime, I have to grind. My days are wasted. I don’t make new memories, and I don’t make new friends. Even with the help of Gen AI, a lot of my time is stolen. This is because I want to create a solid body of work, something that people actually read. I could push hard on social media, but I have a lot of articles left before I have to even think about promotion, and I’m getting traffic already. Writing, editing, generating, and posting with little no results has been my life for the past 6 months and I am loving it. For the first time ever, I feel as though I’m on the way to building a sustainable business. But means more spining my wheels.

Capitalism favors individualism. It favors efficiency, and will reward those who can complete tasks alone handsomely. The rise of AI is leading to the return of the solo business owner, as life gets cheaper for everyone. Smart men and women will want to take advantage, and this will lead to periods of isolation during youth. Welcome to the new normal. People having kids later and later, and spending a ton of time in front of a screen. No getting around this. Just don’t waste your time scrolling the internet. Set some financial goals and lock in so that you can afford to live in the real world. Maybe things will get better for young people in the future too. Life keeps getting cheaper and cheaper after all.

So right now Gen AI sucks. It’s digitzing the economy and holding a mirror to our faces. We’re all in pain. But it is creating deflation in key areas of the global economy. We all have to work in order to get assets. But if things get cheaper, it’ll honestly be too easy.

So even though I’m spinning my wheels, I’m not mad. Life has to be about something. We can’t let things get too easy after all. It’s just surprsing how much of our work is reptitive. It’s also suprising how boring the simulation is outside of work. There’s nothing to do.

So for now, everyone will remain indoors. We’ll all keep working on our projects, or continue getting addicted to games, videos, and other distractions. It’s a weird new world we’re heading into. The way we act as a species is changing. But we are evolving, all of us.

I like to think that us spinning our wheels is as a result of the fact that we’re collectively evolving as a species. We’re all finding our place in this new world of digital intelligence. By becoming connected and staying indoors all the time, we are making leaps in all areas of knowledge work. Additionally, the arrival of social media has made us all collectively raise our standards in admiration of the happiest and wealthiest users. Basically, we’re all locked in.

A lot people will slip though the cracks. For a lot of people in poor countries, getting access to a cell phone or a laptop might be a challenge. Other people won’t be in good health, and others won’t have supportive family members. But generally speaking, AI will make life easier for people than in the long run.

When faced with the medium term possibility of retiring, a lot of people will take AI very seriously.

Thanks for paying attention.
