A good set of grandparents is the biggest blessing a man or woman could ever ask for. I was lucky enough to have met all four of my Grandparents. My Grandfather died young, he was only in his late 60s. My other family members are fairly long lived. My parents are in their mid 50s, and my other 3 grandparents have all made it past the age of 83. I’m hoping one of them will make it to 100 at least. Grandparents are a gift of God. If you are young person who has more than one Grandparent, you need to pray and kiss the ground, because your life is amazing. My life is the best, cause I have two of my Grandparents.
Your grandparents love you
This is more true than for your parents. I once saw someone claim that you are the magnum opus of your grandparents life. I think that’s true, given how my grandparents have treated me. Your parents love you, but grandparents love you more. They value you because they know what it means to miss their children. Nothing beats a good set of loving grandparents.
Your grandparents are smarter than your parents
My grandparents made it to their 80s, having been born in the Caribbean in the 1930s and 40s. They were also pretty successful in life, and retired very comfortably. My parents did well in life too, but they didn’t come from the Caribbean. In comparison to my grandparents, they played life on easy mode. The same applies for every family that doesn’t have massive amounts of generational wealth. The world has changed a lot over the last 100 years. If your grandparents survived, they’re probably pretty sharp and lived healthy lives. That being said, I did have an aunt who smoked until her 60s and died at 102. Luck is a factor.
Your grandparents are calmer than your parents
Unless you have old parents, you probably have parents who are in the thick of things. They still have careers and investments to worry about. They have friends who might still have enough free time to gossip. They’re probably level headed, but they still have a lot going on. Unless your grandparents have mental issues, they are going to think things through more rationally.
Your grandparents are a gift from God
Be grateful you have them. They’re your biggest assets, and should be the most important people in your life if you live near them. My grandma’s my best friend, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Nobody is else is smarter, more trustworthy, or more caring. Living with her beats a roommate by a million miles.
If you have grandparents, talk to them more. They may repeat themselves a little, but there’s a lot going on in their minds. It’s hard not to learn something when you’ve been alive for 80 years or more. Grandparents are the best, make sure you appreciate them.
