How To Make Money Online: Should You Focus on Quality or Quantity?

$100 bills.

When you’re making money online, it can be hard to decide if you care more about quantity or quality. You want to create a lot of content if you want to win. This is known. Content creation is a job. It’s not easy, and the difficulty that comes with content creation makes it tempting to view it as something that should be learned. A lot of people become perfectionists. They spend so much time learning, that they effectively fail to produce. I say, that if you want to win, you need to work your ass off, and it shouldn’t be at creating the most beautiful videos and articles. You want to create the best videos and articles. The best videos and articles are the ones that make you long term money. Anything else is just clout chasing. There’s nothing wrong with chasing fame, but that’s different from making money online.

Most of the value is concentrated in a few niches

Some products are really expensive. If you sell Forex trading bots, you’re going to be able to command a high price. You might not sell a lot of products, but you’re going to be able to make a decent living if you’ make 20-40 sales per month, depending on your product. Some niches are more popular than others. People who stream on Twitch seem to be getting a lot of attention and followers nowadays. People who talk about edible chalk don’t find themselves on the front page of YouTube. The money is concentrated in certain niches. If you create a lot of content in a certain niche, you should be able to capture some of that revenue.

Figure out what you’re selling and how are you going to get traffic

Picking your niche is going to be the most important thing you do. When it comes to making money online, that means figuring out what you’re selling. This blog aims to sell display ad space. Then, I’ll create digital products that everyone can use to succeed in their endeavors. If you’re a YouTuber, you’re also selling display ads, both in the form of PPC and sponsorships. If you can find something else to sell, you’ll have entered the world of ecommerce.

Once you have a good niche, you can outcompete everyone by doing more work

It’s pretty easy to figure out how much work you “should” have to do in order to succeed. Just look at your competition and produce more content than them. If your content is better than theirs, you should be able to make more money than them. It’s that simple. This isn’t easy, however. Creating good content can mean different things for everyone. At the end of the day, good content is content that makes you money. Anything else just doesn’t make sense. If you think following your passion will help you earn, go for it. Just be careful.

You don’t need that much traffic to make a living

The goal is to have a high RPM. I know that I only need between 3500 and 7500 blog post views to live a basic life. Yes, you can live on $750 per month where I’m located. It won’t be anything special, but it will get the job done. I’ll be able to live in a nice house, drive a nice car, and live a good life. It’s all about raising my blog’s RPM. Think about it. You’re a blogger earning $1,000 per month from your writing. Your website is able to drive 10,000 views per month. Is it easier to double the RPM of your blog by creating a high-value digital product, or push your way to 20,000 views? For most people, it’s going to be easier to create the digital product.

Helping people to solve big problems pays more

If you want to make a lot of money, it’s probably best write a lot about the high-paying niches. That way you don’t need to worry too much about traffic. You should be able to make a living as long as you get the tiniest bit of traction. It’s all about building those traffic sources. If you have consistent traffic, a good reputation, and an expensive product, you’re in the money.

Ads are a gamechanger

You just need a bit of leverage. If you can drive people to an email list, content site, or YouTube Channel, you can limit how much money you spend on ads. It’s all about laying the groundwork. That will almost always involve having produced a lot of content.

Overall, you want to produce content at a high rate, so that you know how much traffic you’re able to get consistently. This is especially true if you don’t have a product to sell. Internet traffic can be very valuable, but all of that value tends to be concentrated in a few places. You want to blitz your way to as much traffic as possible if you’re just getting started. This will give you options and opportunities for increased success. I originally built my audience on Medium.com. I spent a year writing without earning a dime. At first glance, my efforts might have seemed wasted. I don’t have a large personal brand. But I do have a blog that’s been live for a little over a month and gets impressions Google Search Console. I also have a presence on Medium and can use it as place to post my fiction writing. With a little bit of elbow grease, I’ll be earning the $750 per month I’m talking about with ease. Hopefully and probably a lot more.
