Quitting porn is one of the hardest things I’ve done, if I’m going to be unfortunately honest. Porn was something I got into when I was young, but not as young as all of my friends. I definitely was one of the last to be introduced to this obnoxious form of media. I thank God for that, because who knows what kind of damage I would have done to my mind and body if I had started earlier. Still, being one of the last didn’t mean much once I got hooked. Porn is hard to avoid looking at when you’re a horny preteen. The stuff changed my life, and definitely for the worse. I stayed in that world of porn for about ten years, masturbating weekly or almost once or twice a day sometimes. Life was grey, and I think I connected with women less as a result. Thankfully, I never got into any porn that was too depraved. Just some scenes containing extreme language.
I knew I needed to quit porn when I found myself injuring myself. You read that right, I hurt my dick masturbating. I also caught an STD, and it was surprisingly hard to treat it. Porn didn’t directly cause these injuries, but it made me think that casual sex and excessive jerking off made sense. A lot of porn is really hot, and when I found my genre, I got addicted fast. It was quite tragic, in hindsight. I wasn’t much of a porn addict in high school, and I thought I had gotten away scott free. But porn stole my early 20s from me, in an insidious way. I told myself I was avoiding women to get work done and spent every night for a few years jerking off. It was sad, and honestly quite horrible for my mental health. If porn wasn’t so addictive, I probably wouldn’t have hit rock bottom, but I’m very glad I did and was able to get free. Here’s how I did it.
Make sure that you are able to support yourself enough to have a social life.
Creating a social life for yourself is hard, especially if you’re living in a Westernized country. Suburbia is a killer for social life, especially if you’re young. There’s no getting around it. If you want to live in and enjoy the real world, you’re likely going to need to make more money than average, especially if you have habits such as smoking or drinking. Your first step is to make an amount of money that you feel comfortable with. If you’re really poor, stick to porn. You can attract women in your life with less money, but the rest of your life will suffer. Get comfortable before you quit porn, unless you’re somehow injuring yourself.
Quit smoking weed all the time.
People don’t talk about this enough, but weed and porn are intrinsically linked, as far as I can tell. Not all people who watch lots of porn smoke weed, but I would venture (as a pothead myself) that many or most potheads watch lots of porn. Simply limiting your weed intake will limit your desire to jerk off. It sounds crazy but it’s true. Limit weed for a better sex life.
Get off of non-professional social media.
If social media isn’t helping you get rich, it’s not worth engaging with. Think about what you find on social media. Sure, some of it is news and funny content, but let’s get real: social media is filled with pornographic and near-pornographic material. The more time you spend on social media, the more time you’re going to want to spend jerking off. It’s really that simple, and the same applies to how much you consume. Social media is full of stuff to buy. Oddly enough, people rarely find themselves actually using the products they purchase.
Hit the gym and looksmaxx
It’ll be easy to be porn free if your surrounded by women. Looks aren’t everything in today’s economy, but it really will help you in your dating life to look good, especially as you get older. Hitting the gym will make the difference between looking great and average as time goes on. Don’t overdo it, but at least spend a bit of time on the treadmill.
Replace porn with sex
The reason porn is so addictive is because sex is essential. Not just for men either. More than a third of porn-watchers are women! Getting off feels great, and we can’t help but be stimulated by the imagery that comes with pornography.
So, the solution to porn addiction is to get out there and start getting laid. Getting laid regularly can take a lot of maintenance, but it’s all a numbers game. If you talk to enough women, you should be able to get some action.
All in all, it’s pretty simple to quit porn. You just need to make a simple plan and bring it to fruition. It’s easier than you think, you just have to be determined. A better life is possible, you just need to put in the work to find your freedom.
