Life Is All Luck

A lot of people don’t want to hear it, but life is pretty much all luck. This kind of thinking seems to injure everyone besides nihilistic people. To an extent I understand. Those who hustle and grind want to believe that they’re doing real work. Others want to believe it’s all up to God. I believe in God, but I also accept that this could all be random. As it is, the way life presents itself to us is outside of our control. Here’s what that means, and how I think we should live as a result.

We Don’t Choose Our Genetics

We have no choice in how we look, or how smart we are. Some of us are born blind or deaf. Others develop diseases as they age. We have no choice when it comes to our genetics, and they often work against us in pretty powerful ways. We live in a world in which there are massive consequences to not being elite. Your life would be dramatically different if you had truly won the genetic lottery.

We Don’t Choose Our Starting Environment

You can build your environment and do your best to improve your life. But you don’t choose where you spawn. You don’t choose what school you go to, who your parents are, or what your native language is. What kind of life can we expect someone from North Korea to have? I don’t think it’s fair to expect much from someone in such circumstances.

If You’re Healthy, Thank God

This is really, really important. If you’re given the gift of health, you have been given the illusion of choice. I say illusion because you can’t control or predict the future. But if you’re healthy, you’re in the privileged group that is able to do stuff. Thank god and take advantage of the situation.

Luck is About Consistency and Repetition

The world can generally be described using statistics. Certain events are highly likely to occur. Others are much more rare. Luck is about consistently trying your best to trigger the low probability events of your choice. This means that you will need to be consistent in trying to trigger those events. You also will want to maximize the probability of those events happening. If we apply this concept to dating, talking to people who you consider very attractive is an attempt at triggering a low-probability event. Looking your best is how you maximize the odds of that event happening.

Use the Illusion of Free Will To Your Advantage

A lot of our lives our outside of our control. Unless you’re a major politician or business leader, you have little power over the general trajectory of humanity as it is. But you can change yourself, and work your way out from there. If you want to create good luck, focus mainly on yourself. Don’t allow yourself to worry about things you can’t control, or become receptive to negativity.

Prayer and Manifestation Work

If you want to go far in life, the best thing you can do is pray. The reason for this is a bit complicated. We all are energetic beings. I don’t mean this in a pseudo spiritual manner. I mean that factual, we all are made up of moving subatomic particles. Our minds are also very powerful. The way we think affects the way we feel. This means that if you pray and manifest, you’re going to radiate positive energy. It may or may not be noticed, but it will make it easier to achieve things.

This is the Best Time To Be Alive

Im writing this article in mid 2025. There’s never been a better time to be alive. We are extremely lucky to be around right now. Hopefully things continue to improve. We should all be fighting on behalf of humanity as a result of this. We’re close to total abundance. We just have a bit more work to do.

Fight on Behalf of Technology and Innovation

If you want the world to improve, things to be more fair, and/or for us to have more time on this planet, you’re going to want to fight on behalf of technology. The more technology everyone gets, the sooner all of our lives improve. Right now, some countries are far behind when it comes to tech. If you’re living in one of those countries, you should be doing everything you can to raise awareness.

Life is all luck. You need to understand this, and let it all go. Start that business. Put out maximum effort. Take the risks that you need to in order to create the life of your dreams. Accept that things may not go your way, and understand that’s how life is. Don’t roll over and give up though. It’s a tough balance. Acting as though you have free will motivates you. But understanding that it’s all luck keeps you humble. Always stay humble.

Thanks for paying attention.
