Everybody loves to claim that blogging is dead. As a matter of fact, they love to shout it from the rooftops. Whenever people hear that I’m blogging, they give me a skeptical look, as if they’re wondering whether I’m quite all right in the head. I am not quite alright in the head, but I do know what I’m doing when it comes to building websites and the internet. I think every e-commerce site needs a blog, no matter how big or small. Adding a blog to your ecommerce site will increase the traffic you get, increase the size of your customer base, and help to make you wealthy over time.
I’ve dedicated years of my life to studying making money online, and have come across many different online business models. Making money online is definitely possible, but people exaggerate how much money can be with little effort. It takes a lot of time and effort to set up an online traffic source, but once you do, it’s like turning on a money faucet. More and more of the world’s attention is going towards video content like YouTube and TikTok, and this is taking attention away from books, TV, and newspapers. That being said, blogging isn’t done. People still read newsletters, they still make Google searches, and Medium has about 100 million users. It’s nowhere near YouTube’s 3 billion users, but it’s an active platform. So writing articles isn’t dead, it’s just that people’s attention is more divided.
Articles have more staying power than YouTube videos. This is in part because people are less motivated to write articles than they are to make video essays. There is less immediate entertainment value to writing. you don’t feel like you’re getting famous, and you probably won’t get rich doing it. When people are trying to turn their brains off they watch TV or short videos, or they scroll through some other form of social media. Most people who are posting content online are more concerned about getting famous than making money from the content. Social media is a powerful drug and people are always trying to get attention. Most of the content on the major social networks is designed to be either mindlessly addictive or emotionally impactful. This means that you can get back massive returns by writing about informative topics that people are searching for. If you can make these articles related to your e-commerce site, you will get readers, build trust, and likely gain social media followers. It’s easier to solve people’s problems than it is to entertain them, in my opinion. You just need to know which problems to solve. You get paid more by solving people’s problems than you do by selling trinkets. If you add a blog to your ecommerce store, you can maximize your profits by doing both.
This is the point at which most bloggers and gurus would try to sell you a hosting plan. I won’t do that, however. You don’t need any money to start drop shipping or selling things online. The only thing you need is a Payhip account. Payhip is an ecommerce web host with a really extensive free tier. You can sell anything you want on your Payhip store without spending a cent, and there are plenty of handy design features that help your site look professional. You can buy a domain name and upgrade to a paid plan if you ever need additional features. The really awesome thing about Payhip is that you can start your blog without buying a domain name or web hosting. This means that you can start getting free traffic just by writing and posting product pictures. You’ll need to do more to get to the next level, but running a blog along with a social media presence is one of the best ways to generate attention for your website. It was actually found that SEO generates more than 90% of all web traffic. This means that informational content that can be found through Google will always have the highest return on investment. You can rank higher in SEO by making connections in your industry and networking. This is actually something I need to do a bit of a better job at. I will.
What Kind of Articles Should I Write?
The best thing about blogging is it allows you to pick your own brain. This means that yu can write articles for yourself. If you write about the topics you like and the questions you want to answer, you’ll attract people like yourself. If you sell stuff that you need and like, you should get a lot of customers that are like you. Writing blog posts can be tricky at first, and you’ll need a lot of articles to rank. But it’s worth it in the long run, because the internet is forever. You can also hire someone like myself to create blog posts for you. It’ll take a decent bit of time for you to recoup your investment, but it’s worth it.
