Diversify Your Social Media Platforms if You’re Blogging

If you’re blogging, you’re going to want to be on several social media platforms. It might not seem fun, and it might seem like a headache, but it’s worthwhile. If you want to set up a sustainable online business, you will do the hard work of promoting your content on social media. Social media might seem stupid, but it keeps you connected to the masses. There’s a ton of value to being a skilled social media marketer in the modern age. If you’re a blogger, social media is a must. You can’t just write articles and pray that search saves you. You need to build a strong social media presence in order to have success online. Here’s why you need to diversify.

Search makes up less traffic than before

Social media makes up a larger part of the internet than ever. If you want web traffic, it’s highly likely that it’s going to be 50/50 between search and social media. This means that a lot of people are driving traffic from social media, and that more and more people are getting siloed off into social media. If they don’t see you on social media, they never do. You need to make sure to build a following in order to have a shot at succeeding. Search and writing great content is only half the battle. You have to have a solid social presence over the course of years in order to make a good living from blogging.

There’s too much competition for search

So many people out there have written so much content. There’s too much competition when it comes to having a search presence. You could write 1000 articles, but without the right backlinks they’ll remain invisible. You need to be on social media to be seen.

You can’t write more than the incumbents

At least not in the space of 1-3 years. Most people who have been blogging for a while have been blogging for 10-15 years. Their blogs are incredibly extensive, because they’ve been around for a super long time. In order to stand a chance, you’re going to need to claw away authority. This is done by writing a certain portion of their articles. But you’re going to need to promote yourself on social media to get some backlinks and compete with these incumbents. Otherwise, you’re going to be competing against someone with a bigger library and deeper pockets than you. You stand out by being the next big thing on social media.

Social media leads to direct visitors

If you post on social media regularly, you’ll have a presence. People will find your content later and hop to your website from there. Social media will make it so that your website functions as a sort of online “landing pad”. People will remember your name, along with your website’s name. Social media is an important source of backlinks, even though people like to act as though it isn’t. People find you on social media, and they remember you if you’ve done a good job building a following.

More platforms = less risk

The more social media platforms you’re on, the lower your risk of being banned. When you post to different platforms you develop a name. People remember you. They’re more likely to follow you when they see you again. Social media platforms are more likely to let you back on. If you have multiple social media accounts, a single ban doesn’t even affect you. It’s way lower risk to diversify your social media.

More social media platforms mean you need less content

This is factual in today’s era. The more you post on different social media platforms, the less overall content you need. This might seem confusing, but it’s the honest to god truth. That’s because social media content is designed to drive backlinks. This means that not only do you get eyeballs to your content on the frontend, but you also get ranked higher by the search engines. Limit how much content you write and get on social media.

Build an email list

You want to build an email list as soon as possible, but I would say that content and social media matter more. If you have an email list, you have a money printer. You can promote any product or communicate any idea to a group of people, whenever you want. If you make sure to remember to build an email list early on, you’re almost certain to make a lot of money. You’ll always be able to drive eyeballs.

People are getting lazier

It might not feel like it, but I predict that over the course of the next 10 years, people are going to find it easier and easier to earn money online. The diversity of content and the potential to earn a living is what makes it so that anyone who is dedicated can create a large site. As a result, people are getting lazier and lazier. This might seem paradoxical, but it’s true. If it gets easier to make money online, it means it’s gotten easier to make money overall. Since people are lazier, posting on a lot of socials is an easy way for you to differentiate yourself. Blogging will be less popular as time goes on, because it requires brainpower. People will be much more apt to become streamers.

Short video allows you to diversify the most

It also gets the most engagement. After writing, it’s very clear that short video is the life blood of the internet. Without short video, you don’t have much of anything by way of content, although forums and websites like Twitter can be good for engagement. If you create short videos, you’re going to be able to diversify and get paid from a multitude of sites. You can also drive traffic to a variety of products or ideas. Short video is perfect for affiliate marketing.

Too much content prevents you from posting

If you can’t post, you can’t promote. If you can’t promote, you can’t get backlinks. No backlinks, no search rank. Don’t create too much content. Make sure to actually post on social media. If you’re like me and like to write without thinking, set a hard limit for how much written content you’re going to create. Finding the sweet spot depends on your niche the time period. I suggest you find bloggers who you like and who sell products and see how many articles they wrote. Guessing how much your favorite blogger makes is tricky. I will write more on that subject soon. Avoid creating too much content. Come up with the full solution: a content business.

If you’re blogging, get on social media. Get on a lot of platforms and be sure to keep active and post a lot. If you’re not on social media, you’re going to have a lot of trouble pushing your content and making a good living online. Making sustainable money from blogging is going to take you a lot of work and a lot of time anyways, so you’re going to want to push your content hard so it can get some traction in the short term. Starting a website can feel like an uphill battle, but if you put in the work, you will see results. The methodology behind getting traffic is always the same. Communicate with people and things will work out. Join several social media platforms.

Thanks for paying attention.
