If you’re a young man around aged 18, I highly suggest you get focused on making money. Money doesn’t buy happiness, but trust me, it can help a lot to have money in your life. It’s actually pretty much the key to success and happiness, especially if you live in a poor country. Not being rich but being competent and high functioning enough to earn what people in your area would call a “solid income”. I suggest every young man dedicate at least 6 years of their life to generating income, 8-9 if they live in a poorer country. You might miss out on some partying, fun, or even family events, but in the long run, it’s worth it. Your life will improve tremendously when you have some wealth, and hopefully your life will be long. Here’s why you should focus on money when you’re young.
Life is more comfortable when you have money
This is true no matter who you are. It’s just better to have money. The food is better, the health care is better, everything about life improves as your income does, except perhaps your relationships. This shouldn’t be an issue if you’re just trying to live “comfortably”. A nice apartment, a house as you age, enough spare cash to go out twice a month and maybe travel. It’s a good way to live. That’s why I work so hard. It’s just better in the long term.
Being young and poor is boring
So, you might as well work anyway. Because it’s also going to be boring if you find yourself old and poor. Work can be quite therapeutic when you get into a flow state.
Money gives you privacy
It’s way better living in the suburbs than in crowded urban areas. I don’t mind getting to know people, but urban areas tend to be quite dense. You basically only get a tiny space to yourself unless you have money. I personally want to set up my life such that I can afford a good amount of space for myself and my family in the future, forever.
People respect you more when you have money
In order to be respected for having luxury items, you have to be quite rich. There isn’t really much of a point in flexing for middle class people anyways. It just makes you look insecure or out of touch. Everybody can save money and go buy a Gucci bag or splurge on an expensive vacation. It’s much more common of a phenomenon than people think. But people respect someone who’s working hard and serious about their stuff, provided they aren’t a jerk.
Money does help you attract women
This is only to a certain degree though. A lot of women have money, and a lot of people have a lot of money. But it’s easier to attract women when you’re on your grind than when you aren’t. It can actually get quite difficult to meet women when you’re poor. Although I’m sure you knew that. You don’t need to be super rich but try to make your way into the “top 20%” of your country net worth wise by the time you’re in your mid 20s. That way you can do stuff in your city without feeling stressed.
Don’t spend your money on drugs/alcohol
This is the main way people burn money, as far as I can tell. Unless you’re buying a lot of skincare/medical type products. Don’t get into crazy cars or clothing items either.
8 years isn’t that long
And that’s on the extreme end. If you dedicate 8 years to making money in the United States starting at age 20, you can be worth maybe a quarter to a half million dollars by your late 20s. That’s more than enough to buy you a bit of comfort and security. If you want to have fun and live your best life, you have 18-20 to do that. This is pretty much how I’ve lived my life, and I don’t regret it at all. I have enough blog content to make a living with.
Getting money isn’t the end all be in life, but I can confidently say that it should be the main focus for a while. Take it from me, life is a lot sweeter when success is in sight. When you can imagine yourself comfortably buying a car or house and having the skillset necessary to succeed at a high financial level in life. It’s a big weight off of your shoulders, and it’s worth dedicating a bit of time to.
Thanks for paying attention.
