Rule Of Life: Learn How to Identify Winners

One of my biggest mistakes and regrets in life is hanging out with too many losers. Over the course of my life, I’ve hung out with too many people who have simply brought me down. I wish I could sugar coat it, but I can’t. My inability to identify people who are winners has created problems for me in life. I don’t know everything about the world, but I wanted to write an article on the subject, mainly from hindsight. Here’s how to identify winners.

Hang out with people who study

I naturally like reading a lot, but I didn’t always understand how little the average person liked to read. The average person doesn’t like to read much, as far as I can tell. Hanging out with people who study isn’t about being elitist. It’s about being around people who aren’t ignorant and who are curious and diligent. It’s a brutal suggestion, but it works. A lot of people who study are great people.

Live as moral a life as possible

If you’re trying to get into the right circles, it’s important to be the right kind of person. I met a lot of people who were in the right circles when I was younger. But I was too busy drinking and partying to have much in common with them. This was likely the biggest mistake of my youth.

Work hard

The right people are trying to make the world a better place. If you want to fit in, you need to be working hard and maximizing your capabilities. It’s not about money. It’s about helping the world.

Learn about the world

If you can hold a conversation with another winner, then you’ll be able to know if you’re on track, and they’ll also be able to tell you whether or not you’re on track. Read, read, read. I don’t read enough anymore, but that’s because I’m too busy working. But when I was younger, I read voraciously. It’s allowed me to converse with alot of people who would have otherwise overlooked me.

Hang out with a variety of people

The mistake most people make when following this advice is to start partying. When you hang out with a lot of people, you start to see how things tend to “go” for certain types of people. It’ll help your pattern recognition skills, basically. This is an important step, so that some psycho doesn’t fool you when you’re looking for a partner.

Date intentionally

Yeah, sounds dry. But realistically, most people don’t have very long biological clocks. You’re always going to want to have your first child by your mid-30s at the absolute latest. Probably earlier if you’re a woman. So one of the best ways to make sure you’re around the right people is to date those that actually want something real. You can’t control other people. But you lower your risks of being around losers if you’re around women who are into long-term dating. Long term thinkers do better. Your girlfriend or wife is who creates your social circle.

Pick up structured hobbies

This is tricky as a lot of people don’t have time as a result of all the work they’re doing. But once you feel comfortable, pick up some structured activities that you can do with others. People who are involved in structured hobbies are likely to be focused and punctual. If you can be like that, you’ll be more likely to meet reliable friends.

Identifying winners is one of the most important parts of life. Cutting off losers is also important. You don’t want people who are going to bring you down or always ask you for help that they’re going to squander. Winners don’t need to be hyper successful, but you want to be around people who are doing something with their lives. Otherwise, you’re lowering your own quality of life. You don’t need to be a snob in order to align yourself with winners. Choose your friends wisely.

Thanks for paying attention.
